Good feeling alright.
I’ve just finished a total rebuild of my KTM 520exc.
Started off as a routine cam bearing swap but morphed into a 540 cylinder, ported head, big valves, big cam, bigger carb, rebuilt crank, Carrillo rod, high Comp piston, new bearings throughout, as well as new plastics, powder coated frame …. The list goes on….
It was because I basically wore it out. The final straw was riding it from Tauranga to Invercargill and back for the Burt Monroe in 2012. Was still running fine but down on power and I wanted to get it just before it went BANG!
I did it all myself and the feeling when it fired up are a mixture of relief and exhilaration!!!
A mod list would be good on the DR’s, thinking of getting one to park alongside the Katoom as its now a handful and I want something a little less stressful to ride.
I’ve got an original XL600r that I could dig out but the kick start only puts me off. I’m spoilt by the electric leg….
