For the purposes of this record Guinness defines Motocross as “a form of motorcycle sport or all-terrain vehicle racing held on enclosed off road circuits”, so this record was completed on a XR250 on a motorcross track in Eqypt.
CAIRO – 14 November 2017: “You gotta do it without any doubt. If you think it`s alright – do it; and if they tell you not – still do it.”
Egyptian motorcyclist Ali Abdo broke the Guinness World Record for the greatest distance on a motocross bike in 24 hours.
The greatest distance on a motocross bike in 24 hours by an individual is 613.59 km (381.27 miles) and was achieved by Ali Abdo Ali (Egypt) in El Gouna, Egypt on June 29-30, 2017.
The 34-year-old motorcyclist applied at the end of 2016 to Guinness World Record, aiming to achieve a world record.
Motocross racing, which developed from competitions in the United Kingdom, takes place on enclosed off-road circuits.
“In addition to planning and technical settings, there were physical and medical settings necessary to be ready for any continuous physical exertion,” Ali told the press.
Ali worked really hard to achieve this Guinness World Record title, which was officially announced by Guinness World Records organization.
Ali did 510 laps around the Motoclub Egypt track on a Honda XL 250.
The previous record-holder was Paul Oughton, who managed to go for 565.74 km in 24 hours on a Yamaha YZ250. It was achieved in the U.K. on September 11, 2013.
“I had to do a series of medical tests and treat some minor problems. It was necessary to lose some of my weight so that my weight was appropriate on the motocross motor, as well as the need to go to the gym at least five days a week to strengthen some of the body muscles and flexibility in motion,” he added.
The wind speed that day was around 25 knots, and the temperature reached 40 degrees Celcius at its peak (noon). Dehydration and fatigue were Ali’s most common enemies during his 24-hour journey.
“I wish I break the American number of driving a motorcycle in 24 hours. It is 3,400 kilometers, and I want to reach 4,000 kilometers. It is a personal challenge and I hope to achieve it,” he continued.
