Hi, My wife and I are travelling to New Zealand for the first time in February from the USA. We are hoping to rent motorcycles during our two week stay. We love to camp and explore the path less travelled. Any recommendations for places to rent bikes, places to visit etc would be welcomed! Attached is a pic of our bikes. Also We are hosts on adv rider tent space. Anyone travelling through Pennsylvania in the USA is welcome to stay with us!

November 30, 2017 at 5:51 pm #20361have you had a look at the FAQ thread on the NZ regional forum on ADVrider?
Might be a bit out of date but a good start. You might find that things are getting a bit booked up. It gets pretty busy over the summer.
Good luck

Where are you flying in to?Hi We are flying to Auckland and then planning to take train then ferry to South Island and concentrate on riding and exploring there for 5 days. HAve sent out inquiries for motorcycles but our options are limited mostly by our height (we are short).
December 4, 2017 at 11:26 am #20394@bikeweeknz at http://comotorcyclehire.co.nz/ in Cromwell has some CRF230’s for hire and lots of amazing riding within a few km’s of his location. he also has Suzuki Vstrom 650’s and BMW F650GS.
December 5, 2017 at 8:06 am #20401Dave at motorcyclehire.co.nz is a really nice guy and his CRF230’s are great for the local routes that include the Nevis a 65Km scenic route just 10km from his base
December 6, 2017 at 6:50 am #20414Thanks we are corresponding with Dave and a few other companies. It’s tough to decide whether a bigger bike to explore more of the island or a smaller bike to get closer to nature are the right choice for this trip. Wish we had enough time to do both!! Looks like Dave is situated in a great place to see a lot of great scenery!
December 7, 2017 at 11:44 pm #20425Hi Eddie
Thanks for the referral. Discussion with Janeen has been ongoing. Note we do NOT have a GS650, only a GS1200. Not sure if you’ve had contact yet from the guys at Banks Peninsula Experience: https://www.bpexperience.co.nz/
Met Matt at the CAMS racing at Levels. Interesting that people are enjoying hte Royal Enfield Himalayan – maybe should look at adding one (or two) to the fleet.
Cheers

@roodyblues1 has recently bought a Himalayan and should do a NZ owners report of it. I gather he’s enjoying it. -
