The new KTM 390 Duke has been getting rave reviews around the world, is a Adventure version also on the cards?

August 12, 2014 at 9:17 pm #4236is the KTM 390 Adventure confirmed for 2015?
Reports on the internet are that the KTM 390 Adventure is soon to go into production in India as a 2015 year model.

There is good news for all you KTM enthusiasts who enjoy power and speed – put yourself in an adventurous mode , cause the renowned Austrian motorcycle manufacturer, KTM, plans to release the Duke 390 Adventure bike in India by 2015.
…
The 390 Adventure will be powered by a 373.2cc , water cooled, four-stroke, single cylinder engine , which will yield maximum power 43.6PS at 9500RPM and maximum torque of 32Nm at 7250 RPM. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox, which once in gear…. will send you racing down any road.
The design and fabrication of the 390 Adventure will be borrowed from its bolder sibling ,the 1190 Adventure . The 390 Adventure will boast of a larger fuel tank, stronger suspension along with all- terrain tyres to handle on- road and off-road tracks. The 390 Adventure will also sport an upright riding position along with ABS , comfortable for long distance rides.
…
Priced at approximately Rs 2.5 lakhs (ex-showroom) a little more than the Duke 390 . The 390 Adventure should hopefully capture the dual purpose Indian bike market , unlike the Honda Impulse which failed to do so. We can wait and watch if this adventurous step by KTM will be successful or not.
August 25, 2014 at 11:22 am #4408Hmm, hopefully more enduro influence in there than supermoto.
August 28, 2014 at 9:07 am #4448KTM has squashed rumours that a 390 Adventure model is imminent, with KTM’s Press & PR Coordinator in Austria telling ADVPulse.com that the current Duke 390 package isn’t suitable for an Adventure setup.
“…from a technical perspective other versions would require a complete different package. The existing layout can [be] used for Naked and Supersport models.”
KTM also went on to indicate that they are not currently in development of an Adventure model using the 390 motor.
“From a strategical point of view KTM always considers new developments and for this reason: never say no. But currently such models are not foreseen.”
September 6, 2014 at 3:08 pm #4486June 18, 2015 at 3:21 pm #8774It’s long been rumored that KTM was working on an adventure version of the 390 Duke and RC390, imaginatively titled the KTM 390 Adventure. Those rumors started back as far as 2013 in an interview with KTM CEO Stefan Pierer. Since then however, not much has been heard about the bike until now.
Indian customs documents reveal that KTM has imported two motorcycles from Austria, code named KT22 which is understood to be the internal name for the KTM 390 Adventure. The descriptions of the bikes for import are for ‘R & D Purposes’ and have an engine capacity of 374 cc – meaning it uses the same single cylinder engine as the 390 Duke and RC390.
That means an engine producing 43bhp of power and 35 Nm of torque, but it’s expected that the bike will arrive in a slightly different state of tune – perhaps with more lower range flexibility. When it goes into production, the 390 Adventure will be produced in India at Bajaj’s factory.
It’s expected that a whole range of entry-level ‘adventure’ bikes will be hitting the market over the next two years. The race is on between Benelli and Honda to be first. Benelli will apparently release an adventure bike based on the BN/TNT 302 naked bike (reviewed here) while Honda continues to tease us with their CX-01 concept which could morph into a CB300X.

December 21, 2015 at 3:27 pm #10920With KTM sticking to the tried and true with it’s models but Husqvarna producing some interesting new models using the KTM 390 motor and frame, perhaps it’s more logical to be looking for a 390 based Adventure or Enduro from Husqvarna?
August 7, 2017 at 10:23 am #19010A picture of the 2017 KTM 390 Duke came up in my feed this morning and something that caught my attention was the amount of ground clearance it seemed to have. Looking the Duke up on KTM.com and it turns out it has 185mm ground clearance, that’s getting into adventure tourer ground clearance territory as it’s more than the Suzuki V-Strom, Honda Varadero and 700 Transalp among others.
Still some 3-4 cm longer forks in and almost call it done for an adventure.

June 29, 2018 at 2:35 pm #27084More pics have surfaced of what is believed to be the KTM 390 Adventure.
Interestingly this bike appears to have a 19″ front wheel rather than the expected 21″ of a focused adventure bike. This along with the rear panels appearing to be set up for integrated luggage hints the KTM 390 will be more adventure touring focused than hard core off road.
June 30, 2018 at 4:19 pm #27094Something is not right there? How can the bike be so dirty but the riders boots and legs very clean? No splash on him at all?
I think he has picked up this bike from the workshop but someone else who rode it the day before?November 6, 2019 at 4:26 am #31785IT’S FINALLY HERE!
KTM has announced that the 390 Adventure will be part of the KTM 2020 model range.
The frame is very similar to the KTM 390 road bike and of course the engine comes from the same bike, however KTM have not yet released any HP or NM numbers at this stage so there’s no word on whether the engine has been returned for its new adventure role.
Styling is very much taken from the 790 Adventure
Wheels are 19″ front and 17″ rear on tubeless cast wheels, un unusual combination for KTM.
Fuel tank capacity is 17.5 litres, which KTM state is good for 400km range.
The gearbox is 6 speed.
Ground Clearance is 200mm.
Seat Height is 855mm.
Wet weight is 172kg.November 15, 2019 at 5:24 am #31888Here’s KTMs’ promo vid for the 390 Adventure.
February 2, 2020 at 6:42 am #32373The KTM 390 Adventure is now being advertised at $9800 NZD plus on road costs on Trade Me.
