KTM has stated the RC8c parallel twin has been retuned for a wider torque spread compared to the 63.5ftlb of the road going Duke, but there’s no word yet on how that will affect the 103.3bhp peak HP that the Duke boasts.

Other details now known are that the fuel tanks are very low mounted for a low Centre of Gravity and are large enough for a 400km range, and allow for a lower than usual seat height for an adventure bike.

@birchynz, Chris Birch, eight times New Zealand enduro champion, recently rode the KTM 790 prototype and said: “I’m honestly blown away by the new KTM 790 Adventure R. Naturally, I’ve got a lot of experience on enduro bikes and the awesome ability of the big KTM Adventure models, and this just feels like the perfect combination of them both.”

    Oops,

Just like the recent BMW 1250GS leak before it’s official launch a KTM marketing sheet has emerged of the KTM 790 Adventure R.
The only thing it tells us that wasn’t already known is the seat height of 880mm.

Here’s the specs for the new KTM 790 Adventure and Adventure R.

The difference between the 2 models is the R has 40mm more suspension travel which adds more ground clearance and a higher seat height allowing more aggressive off road use, also the Adventure R has a slightly steeper steering head angle so presumably they don’t share the same frame.

As usual we have updated our Adventure – Dual Sport Motorcycle specifications comparison chart with these new models.
