Royal Enfield has shown a new 47hp 650cc parallel twin motor to go into future models, whether one of these will be an adventure style bike is unknown at this stage.
The new motor is known to have 4 valves running off a single cam with a 270 degree crank mated to a 6 speed gearbox. Royal Enfield have stated this motor is designed not for maximum power but to have a fat torque curve, and that unlike the current 500cc single engines it will reach 160km/h.
This isn’t the first twin cylinder motor for Royal Enfield. Back in 1960 when RE was still british owned a 700cc motor was released which grew to 750cc in 1962 and continued in production until 1970
