Pori Road is a scenic gravel ride that links the Pahiatua-Pongaroa Road with Route 52. On the Pahiatua-Pongaroa Road side the road starts off sealed before turning to gravel and is the recommended direction to travel the road as you get great views out across the valley once you’ve climbed up the hill.

@Bandit Rider went over Pori Road recently and it has suffered due to recent heavy rain and may be impassable for a while due to slips.

I rode this late afternoon end January and the views out west over Paihiatua and Woodville were stunning! It’s single lane (like the best roads are) and you have to ride around livestock that weight more than you and your bike combined – so take it easy – but’s it’s a must ride and leads to the remote, 4WD only, not maintained by council (let me at it) Puketoi Road which you turn right into.
