Carricktown track is yet another ride in the Cromwell/Bannockburn riding mecca area. At it’s northern end it runs from the end of Schoolhouse road just South of Bannockburn, and at the southern end it runs off the Nevis Road.
Carricktown track is unmaintained and can be very rutted, steep and uneven with many steps and ledges to navigate. Due to the tracks ruggedness we can’t recommend larger bikes attempt this at all, and smaller bikes should only be attempted by experienced riders.
As the track is exposed and at altitude it can be very hot, and/or very windy and cold. We highly recommend riders be prepared for changing conditions and carry food & water, and are self sufficient to recover themselves from any possible incidents or breakdowns.
Once at the top the views are very rewarding.
