Admiral Road has it’s northern end at Gladstone, just West of Masterton, and it’s southern end at Hinakura approximately 15km East of Martinborough. Usually ridden South to North the road actually starts as Moeraki Road and changes it’s name several times before becoming Admirals Road, but as the longest portion of the road with the same name is Admirals Road and the road passes through Admiral Station, the one name is usually used to refer to the whole route.

The road itself is well formed and fairly smooth light gravel, there are 3 gates that should be left as found, usually closed, and you may come across cattle stock or vehicles but the road is usually very quiet. Admirals Road makes an enjoyable Sunday ride out from Wellington and can be combined with several other rides in the area.

A slip on Hinakura Road currectly blocks access from the south.

Easy ride with great views. Good road to include in a short day loop out of Wellington.
