From the North end, Braemar Road takes you from SH8 just West of Lake Tekapo directly West towards Lake Pukaki. As you reach Lake Pukaki the road turns left 90 degrees and the road name changes to Hayman Road to run South along the eastern side of Lake Pukaki.
From the South end, Haymans Road runs North off SH8 just a few km East of Pukaki village.

Both roads are well-formed gravel roads suitable for any rider on any bike, including loaded and carrying a pillion.

Keep in mind that the road is public but there are areas fenced off and with warning stating Military training area as there is a military base nearby.
