Craig Flat Road runs parallel to the Clutha River and SH8 from Beaumont to Millers Flat bridge where you can cross back to SH8, or the road becomes sealed and changes it’s named to Teviot Road which continues North on to Roxburgh.
Watch out for cyclists along here as parts of Craig Flat Road and Teviot Road either side of Millers Flat Bridge are part of the National Cycle Trail. The road is also narrow so there is little room for passing vehicles in either direction and vegetation is fairly overgrown at the side of road any animals could jump out from that and you can’t really see if it’s safe to pull over.
For the 2021 TT2000 Long Distance Riders event the Lonely Graves Historic Reserve checkpoint was at a reserve of the same name about halfway along Craig Flat Road.
