Hori Bay is a short distance North of Nelson and runs from SH6 up through a forestry block to the end of the road at Hori Bay. The 13.5km track traverses a range of hills that offers fantastic views over Tasman Bay towards Motueka and Abel Tasman National Park.
Hori Bay track usually has a firm, relatively smooth base, however rough heavy rain and/or recent logging activity could create ruts.
As this is an actively logged area it is possible to come across logging trucks and other vehicles in the area at any time.
There are also many sidetracks off the main track leading to skid sites to explore. Many of these are very steep however so learner riders should stick to the main track.

I tried to ride this route yesterday it’s now blocked with large rocks. A local told me the easement is now closed and has been for the last 6 months
Hi. Can anyone update me with the status of the road? Thought to have a ride to the Bay today but there is a locked gate at the start. Is this a private road? Will it be opened again? Cheers.
Went investigating on my way home on Thursday and there are signs up saying that the road is closed due to weather related damage – damn…
