Huntsbury Track is a shared 4WD/vehicle & MTB/walking track which winds up/down from Summit Road to Huntsbury Ave. The track has a medium layer of loose gravel in most places and can become rutted due to 4WDs, however all the descents and clims are easy. It is used by a lot of MTBers/walkers so your speed and approach should be adjusted to suit. Huntsbury Track is also part of a working farm so beware of livestock.
You will be rewarded with excellent views over Christchurch City & Canterbury plains.
Track type: Gravel Road Track composition: Bumpy, Loose, Undulating Slippery when wet? No Suitable for bikes <650cc? Beginner Suitable for bikes >650cc? Beginner River crossings? No
Great fun little short inner-city track. I would count the days till they close this to vehicles, as the road is over run by walkers, dogs, and mountain-bikers everywhere.
But for now (2022) it’s still open and great fun, albeit be prepared for dirty looks from the afore mentioned people.
Easy to reach from the south side of Christchurch and takes you up to Summit Road
