Otanui North Road, Ararimu East Road, and Opotiki Road are all one road but for some reason it needs 3 different names over it’s 25km distance, each section does have its own character however.

Starting at the South end from the tiny settlement of Otanui, Otanui North Road winds it’s way along a valley floor between the surrounding hills, as you cross over into Ararimu East Road the road is much less windy, a bit more open. As soon as you cross the signpost to Opotiki Road however the road heads up and over a range of hills where it gets much narrower and windy and looks more overgrown, once over the hills the the road ends at SH4 about 9km North of Taumaranui.
