Port Charles road runs up the East side of the Coromandel Peninsula to the DOC campsite at Stony Bay. Like Port Jackson road it is a windy single lane gravel road catering to 2 way traffic. As the road has many crests and blind corners caution is advised as you may encounter campervans, trucks and vehicles towing boats.

Rode Coromandel to Kennedy Bay to Port Charles and Stoney Bay 21/11/19. Kennedy Bay road is great. A patchwork of seal and gravel going over the hills from Coromandel, with excellent views. Turns into really nice gravel right up to Port Charles as it heads north along the coast. Section to Stoney Bay was rougher with deeper larger stones on a single track, and some inconsiderate ute drivers, so slow going. Campsite was getting some serious attention from contractors. Looks a great place to stay.
