Riversdale Beach runs from Homewood Road to the settlement of Riversdale Beach, and for those more confident riders can be an optional ‘Challenge section’ for a group heading to Riversdale Beach. Take Waiorongo road from Homewood Road and follow the track. The first 2-3 km is gravel road but that quickly turns to dirt track crossing private land. There are a number of gates that must all be closed and you must stay on the track, The beach is only 3-4 km from the Homewood Road turnoff.
As you come onto the beach you are at the south end of a bay, follow the beach north around the bay and look out for a exit up onto the dunes near the northern point of the bay. Take the exit and follow the track 300-400 metres where it comes back onto the beach again. You cannot go around the point on the beach as it is impassable due to rocks. Continue up the beach until you arrive at the southern end of Riversdale Beach settlement where there is vehicular access to the beach to use as an exit . It is illegal by local council bylaw to use any motor vehicle on the section of beach in front of the houses.
This is a public area of coastline and there may be other beach users so be considerate.
