Just West of Hastings, Salisbury Road is a short sidetrip off SH50 that can be looped with Gwavas Road or Kereru Road.
The bottom half of Salisbury Road is one-laned seal with twisty corners as it climbs through farmland following the ridge-lines, with the top half well maintained gravel bordering Gwavas Forest.

This road has great north facing 180-degree views across Hawkes Bay, from Taihape Rd, to Taupo Rd, over Napier and Hastings, and the Triple Peaks.

I use this road for scrubbing in new tyres as it is a good combination of twisty seal, and flowing gravel to get that new sheen off the tyres.
