Stanley Road is a great shortcut if you are travelling SH2 between Taneatua and Opotiki. From the Taneatua end the road twists and turns up and over the hills with the first 10km being well formed gravel then 6km twisty seal to the Opotiki end and makes a great alternative to the highway.

Cool. Thanks for the info. Cant wait to do this road next time I head over to Opotiki to do the Motu road. Will combine it with the Lake Rotoma backroads on the way 🙂
If you are going around there you might want to check out Porters Road as well.
