Te Hutewai Road is an alternative for those either heading out of Raglan to the South, or into Raglan from the South. Running along the inland side of Mount Karioi, the southern end of Te Hutewai Road meets up with Te Mata Road just North of Te Mata School and can be used as an presumably shorter and quicker alternative to the northern part of the Raglan to Kawhia gravel route.

When ridden the road had a hard base but was still quite loose but should be suitable for all adventure bikes and adventure rider experience levels, including riding with a pillion.
