The Wilberforce River carries on from the top end of the Lake Coleridge Track and follows the Wilberforce riverbed 12k up to Fangs Hut.
While the track is formed in most places the base of the riverbed is chunky rock and so can be rough in places, there are also a number of river crossings to navigate. The reward however is stunning views totally removed from any usual signs of civilisation.
As this follows a river bed extreme care is advised as rain in any part of the greater catchment area in the Southern Alps could cause sudden flooding at any time, even if it hasn’t rained here in several days.
