Skirting around the top of the Woodhill Forest this 8km track takes you to the lagoon of Waioni Inlet at the top of South Head.
The road out to the lagoon is smooth graded gravel so suitable for beginner and experienced adventure riders alike. At the lagoon there is beach access though only near low tide. If you venture onto the beach make sure you have enough time to get off again before the tide comes in!
This area is popular with Kite Surfers and others so take care and respect other beach users.

That is a fantastic spot -how far did you go up the beach?
We be going there soon I’m guessing @facebook-keithfenwick11 now your bikes had its first dose of dirt
Tide was coming in, so i couldn’t go far up. Believe these spot is famous for kiting as well. There were two guys with kites, that was my end. May 3-4 case up the beach. But i want to go again, at low tide. Check out again.
Saturday morning?
Unfortunately tides aren’t that good for Saturday High 10:21am low 4:37pm
Could do 3pm on the beach and home would be easy
Is this a public road? In other words, does my bike need to be road legal to ride here? Thanks.
Yes it is so Yes it does. 99% of the tracks on the site are legal public roads.
Thank you. The reason I ask is because I have a trail bike but am most interested in riding like the 42nd Traverse etc. I know a number of other riders who are the same.
Is this still accessible?
I rode both lagoon Woodhill forest road and Zanders road last year and they were both fine
There in 4WD today. Easy but scenic ride.
This was all bolted and locked up with signs saying closed when I tried this week 10/2/2022
very disappointing.
Hi, I’m planning on riding here this weekend – 22 Oct 2023, is this track still accessible? Anyone been there recently to confirm the conditions/accessibility? Thanks!
All locked up unable to gain accesses… shame
Bugger, thanks @Tom Symon for the update.
