Honda X-ADV Adventure Scooter

and now for something different from Honda, is it wrong that I want one?

Honda has released a new concept called the City Adventure. From what we can deduce from the pics this scooter is a line extension of the European market-only Honda Integra 750, a maxi-scooter based on the NX750 motorcycle platform that has footboards and a semi-automatic gearbox, but rolls on 17 inch front and 15? wheels and uses full motorcycle suspension.

On this concept, wire wheels with twin discs up front, knobbly ties and beefy bodyside appearance suggest rugged durability for people bombing through the concrete canyons of Europe.

A new brand model from a reliable and reputable motorcycle brand name,, surely the competition will be huge discussion ahead after revealing this innovative release.

HONDA CONFIRMS PRODUCTION OF ITS BIG ADVENTURE SCOOTER

HONDA has this morning confirmed production of its NC750-powered X-ADV adventure scooter with the release of these pictures.

The machine revealed at the 2015 EICMA Milan show as the ‘City Adventure’ concept will debut in its production ready state at the same event this year, on November 8.

Specifications haven’t been revealed yet but we know it’s powered by the 745cc parallel-twin engine from the NC750 range, making 54hp and 50lbft in the NC750X.

Honda has confirmed the X-ADV will have the automatic Dual Clutch Transmission system shared by other models in the range.

The firm says it’s a ‘new breed of machine’ with ‘long travel suspension to handle the roughest road surfaces’.

The firm said in a release: ‘At the same time, the X-ADV offers the practicality of a five-stage adjustable windscreen and storage space for an off-road style helmet.

‘The X-ADV continues Honda’s long tradition of finding new ways to create products that enhance and enrich its customers’ lifestyles. In keeping with its innovative concept, the X-ADV will come with Honda’s unique Dual Clutch Transmission – and the spirit of adventure – as standard fitment.

‘The X-ADV will be shown to the public for the first time at the EICMA show in Milan, from 8 to 13 November 2016. Full technical specifications will also be available at this time.’

The X-ADV is due to join Honda’s 2017 range.

THE HONDA X-ADV IS OFFICIALLY HERE
Honda’s X-ADV adventure scooter debuts at Eicma

IT WAS first shown as a concept at Eicma last year and we knew it was coming, but Honda has finally officially revealed its latest model – the X-ADV.

Thanks to its rugged looks and the off-road ambition visible in its long travel suspension, wire-spoked wheels and hand guards, it looks like the X-ADV might be capable of delivering on its promise of adventure.

It’s powered by the 745cc liquid-cooled eight-valve SOHC parallel-twin engine found in the Integra and NC750X – so we’re talking 54hp at 6,250 rpm and 50.15lb/ft torque at 4,750rpm. Transmission duties are handled by Honda’s Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) system.

Although it shares its powerplant with the NC750X and Integra, the X-ADV’s tubular steel chassis is new and sits in between the front 41mm diameter adjustable USD forks and preload adjustable rear shock. Front travel is 153.5mm and the rear is 150mm.

There’s a 17 inch wheel at the front and a 15 inch at the rear, with dual purpose tyres. Stopping duties at the front are handled by a pair of radially mounted four-piston calipers and 310mm discs.

As well as being rugged, the X-ADV is also meant to be convenient and comfortable, which is why it has 21 litres of under seat storage space, a five-way adjustable screen and keyless ignition.

Tank size is 13.1 litres, seat height is 810mm and Honda says the X-ADV’s kerb weight is 238kg.

mmm, blurs the lines between scooter and motorcycle. Chain drive, 750cc… you kinda wonder what the point is?

Honda has announced a more dirt worth version of the X-ADV, the X-End.

The X-End is fitted with 19″ front and 17″ rear wheels which required steering geometry changes to accomodate so we assume the frame is different.

Further to it’s off road cred a skid plate is fitted as standard and ABS is easily switched off via a button on the switchgear while the front brakes at least have braided lines.

Though not essential for off road work a Termignoni exhaust will make it sound the goods and the bike is wrapped in CRF1000L Africa Twin inspired graphics.
