Motorcycles, like other vehicles, are considered a Classic in New Zealand once they are 40 years old. This then entitles the vehicle to cheaper annual registration costs.
Some Classic Adventure Bike Prices are starting to get stupid
Brand new 1979 XR500, never ridden – $50,000NZ

1979 XR500, 1100 km – $16,500NZ

What does that make yours worth @mark-claasen?

Because I am a fair man I only want 25K now
Reasons
1 it has been started so 50% discount for that
2 it is original not like the 16K one which is modded and non original (I have stock pipe as well)
3 It is friends with Troy Bayliss
So for 2019 a classic vehicle will be any vehicle manufactured in 1979.
There some quite cool machines on Trademe at the moment.

@Mark Claasen there’s also a couple of XR500’s, including one like yours at $9k but I didn’t include those as they didn’t seem to have road kits fitted.
