I’m not exactly sure what it’s there for, i’m guessing it’s a type of prefilter. What i do know is mine is buggered and always finding bits of it in the air box. So i’m looking for a new one, or on ideas on what people have used to replace? I think it’s part number 63115-13E00 and is listed as “Cushion, Front” although now unavailable. Cheers.
I found some similar foam at Cycletreads intended to go between the bash plate and the motor – presumably to stop stuff getting in the gap – I used that. Bits have fallen out. not sure how necessary it is. I notice there’s nothing like it on my DRZ400
Para-rubber often has filter foam.
Good old Ebay to the rescue. $11 for a 50x50x5cm piece, way more than I need for the DRZ but i have some other non bike related uses in mind for it. The acutal name of the stuff is called reticulated foam, and as Muzz said often sold as filter foam for fish tanks and such (how I found this.)
