Aprilia Toureg 660

We wrote about the new Aprilia 660 motor and how it should end up in an adventure bike, now scroll down for the upcoming Aprilia Toureg 660.

This is a seriously cool looking mid-sized sports bike, but it’s the motor in particular that’s interesting me.

In the same way that Yamaha chopped a cylinder off the R1 to make the class-leading WR250 motor, Aprilia has chopped the front bank of cylinders off their 1184cc RSV4 1100 to make the parallel-twin 660 motor.

In New Zealand the RS660 will be LAMS compliant with the LAMS restriction being in the ECU, which in theory means once a rider has their full license the engine could be opened up to full power spec, which according to Aprilia takes things to 95HP!.

A 660 parallel twin sounds like a great size for an ADV machine, and even if it was re-tuned to 75-80hp to fatten up the bottom end and mid range to be more ADV friendly it would still be a great motor.

Check out the Aprilia RS660 website.

The Aprilia Toureg 660 has been spotted on public roads in testing, however the ‘spy’ photos to date don’t show any real detail. The picture below however was in a recent Italian motorcycle magazine and looks like a finished model.
