Oh Dear, own up, was it you?

A motorcyclist escaped without injury after crashing his newly purchased motorbike.

Emergency services were called to Heyward Point Rd, near Dunedin, about 1.30pm on Wednesday, Sergeant Matt Lee said.

The 54-year-old motorcyclist lost control on a gravel road and ended up crashing on a grass bank.

The man was treated at the scene.

There were no reports of damage to the motorbike, which had been purchased that morning, Lee said.

Double Oh Dear! The article has been updated to indicate that the same rider crashed the bike the next day which required hospitalisation.

On Thursday afternoon, emergency services again attended a crash involving the same motorcyclist – on the same stretch of gravel road.

This time the motorcyclist suffered moderate injuries, and was taken to Dunedin Hospital by ambulance.
