Braeburn Track runs from the entrance of the carpark for Lake Rotoroa towards Murchison or vice versa. There is a fairly steep hill near the eastern end of the track, and there are a half dozen or so small concrete bottomed fords to be crossed along it’s 10km length. The surface is generally well maintained and smooth, however depending on how recently it has been graded the gravel can be a bit deep. Deer have been spotted in the trees beside the road before.
Braeburn Track makes a great little ride on it’s own, or it can be joined with Porika Road to make a longer ride.

Went from Murchison to Lake Rotoroa today, Turned down Mangle valley road a couple of K’s north of Murchison to Tutaki Rd then onto the Braeburn track. It’s a short 45 minute ride to the lake and a very pleasant one with four fords included that have concrete smooth bases, so nothing to put off beginners. Just have to put up with swarms of sand flies once at the lake unfortunately, but the rides a good one and even better if you return the same way.
