I love that they can save 5kg by going to a Lithium battery when the stock battery weighs less than 4kg in the first place. These LiIon batteries are truly wonderful until they have a thermal runaway caused by mounting them in a vehicle with an incompatible charger. :)
This thing is as far away from an offroader as what the old VEE used to be…

Exactly!
Apart from stripping 20k+kg out of it in excess fat, not much dirt-capability was gained.
The current built has addressed a few of the issues…like gaining 45mm of ground clearance by re-routing the front header pipe.
And sinking $1500 into suspension bits. Which is as far as one should idealistically take a DL…
…..after that it’s a waste of $$ and effort…and lotsa snake-oil. The old story of polishing a turd.
Had my stoushes with Mr. Hessler + Co through the German V-Strom forum :-))
Of course, he wants to SELLL!
Go on, post a pic. Particularly of the new exhaust routing,
But think how cool it will look outside my coffee shop…i know its wrong but i still want one.
True 🙂
Upon request, here’s a pic showing the front header pipe relocated from running under the sump to running along the right-hand bottom edge of the engine. That allowed the bashplate mounting brackets to be re-fabbed to tuck the bashplate (Touratech) under the guts with only 4mm clearance.
Net-gain of ground clearance against a stock-bike is ~ 45mm and includes the bash-plate thickness and clearance…..against a stock-bike with a B+B bashplate the difference is ~70mm.

And yes, the Touratech plate is mounted to its own crossbrace.
No B+B stuff here.
