I have been searching for more gravel/dirt roads in Auckland using Google Maps and the Outdoor Access Map which shows all the paper roads.
Stumbled across Caldwells Road in East Tamaki, that seems to run the whole way between Point View Drive and Ormiston Road. From Streetview it seems the first section is paved and easy access, and the rest of the road is behind a gate and gravel/dirt.
Has anyone ridden this road? Any locked gates or angry locals? If the Outdoor Access Map is right then this is a legal road so should be rideable?

Update: Tried entering from Griggs Road on Sunday 26/08/2024. there’s about 150m of steep loose chip seal and then the road is closed with some big civil works going on, presumably for a subdivision.
Well spotted and investigated. A shame it didn’t turn into something accessible.
