Eyre Creek is a one way in, same way out, track made up of challenging rutted dirt track and a lot of deep and rocky river crossings. On a wet day or after recent rain Eyres Creek track would be very muddy.
It’s estimated to take 2-3 hours each way but we didn’t make it to the end as we were running out of time. My friend dropped his DRZ400 in the water and I fell down once and bent my handlebar.
Access to Eyre Creek is off SH6 about 1km South of the tiny village of Athol, itself roughly halfway between the bottom of Lake Wakatipu and Lumsden.
