Who’s done it, @mark-claasen?
I Googled it and it’s moving the exhaust cam 1 tooth forward. Apparently it give a 7-10% performance increase.

Yes Edward its free power, it is most noticeable from the bottom end tapering off as you get to peak revs.
huge change in Ride-ability and makes it much easier to ride both on the road and the gravel, made my KLR feel more like the DR750
IMHO a must do mod
Interesting, what is it about the stock setup that causes the change to make such a difference, would it work on other bikes like the DR?
We must swap bikes one day.
Apparently the factory setup is aimed at getting the best emissions rather than the best performance, so by doing the MC Mod, you are probably killing a few more baby seals per 100km (or whatever unit they use to measure emissions, I don’t recall)
I think it’s whales per 1000km and it would be about 0.0056 by my very accurate calculations 🙂
Hope your valves don’t kiss your piston….
Not an issue for a KLR as about a Zillion people have done this mod with no problems.
Its surprising how much of a difference it make to the bottom end really wakes it up and gives it the old school chug feel, IMHO also makes it quite a bit quicker on the gravel as pulls out of corners a lot harder
