Old Man. Old Women, Johnstones Creek Track, Mount Buster track, Awakino Zigzag Track on a loaded 220kg Adventure bike?

My questions is…. we are 50yr olds on KTM790 / 890, KTM1190, Triumph 900 etc… full loaded with gear for camping etc… 200kg plus bikes….

We have previously done the Lake Onslow grade 2 and really enjoyed it. Found the Molesworth and Dansey a bit easy going.

Would we be sensible to attempt these track next Feb 24… there will be 5 of us.

Old Man. Old Women, Johnstones Creek Track, Mount Buster track, Awakino Zigzag Track on a loaded 220kg Adventure bike?

Thanks

I guess it all depends on your experience, confidence and skill really. Old man/woman with 5 people to help push if get stuck in a rutt should make things easier. Could be an issue if trying to ride in from Piano flat as there are some steep sections and step like rocks to navigate up. Buster/Kyburn/Awakino is another step up again, more of a shingle base with large rocks and steep sections needing momentum to carry big bikes through. To save weight there are huts in all those areas (can’t guarantee they will be empty however!) but also being smart with who’s carrying what can save on weight when riding with a group. Another idea is concerned with weight, set up camp, and go riding Nevis/Alexandrea for that range, and one of several camps In & around Oteake conservation park.
