Waikato West Coast loop ride

I’m going for a ride on Sunday September 14, who wants to join me? (WARNING: This ride is weather dependant I’ll wimp out if it’s raining)

The route will be from Hamilton over Old Mountain Road, then onto the Raglan to Port Waikato route. Lunch will be at the Nikau Caves Cafe on Waikaretu Valley Rd, which is about 2/3’s of the way between Raglan and Port Waikato and 500 metres inland.

After lunch the ride will complete the route to Port Waikato then head inland slightly for Klondyke Road. At the end of Klondyke road Hamilton riders can turn right and connect up with SH22 down to Huntly and home, any Auckland riders could turn left which also connects up with SH22 and comes out at Tuakau.

Looks like a nice ride that. Will hopefully have a chance to do it next time I’m up that way.

Fingers crossed the weather is good for you.

If you aren’t into GPS, here’s a Google Map of the route.

If you click the ‘View Larger Map’ link and once that loads press the print button you can print out route style instructions.

Here’s the GPX file for Garmin GPS’s

It contains 3 individual track files and waypoints for the 3 gravel sections we will be doing, plus a route file for the entire day.

I finally got around to editing the video took on the ride. He didn’t get where we were riding along a ridge and the wind blew us right across the road though.
