18 litre Long range tank for the Kawasaki KLX250/300

The Kawasaki KLX250 and 300 don’t seem to have sold much in New Zealand but they look like a good machine.

Gerald Gornach in Vienna, Austria thought they needed a bigger tank though, so he made one. It looks like he’s working on a fairing kit as well.  You can check out the tank on Youtube, and Gerald has included some contact details below if you want to talk to him directly about getting one.

As the market of light weight adv motorcycles is somehow limited especially cause of too small fuel tank, I started developing an 18L – 4,75gal conversion for the Kawasaki KLX 250 / 300.
For beginning it works on the EFI model, available around the world since 2008. The carbureted Kawasaki will get this Kit too, but this will take some more time.
Not tried jet, I hope at least the tank will work on the KLX 250 back to the 90´- the ones with kick starter.

The bike got already tested for about 4000km at different locations like the Hungarian TET, the mountains of Romania or at different motocross tracks for a couple of 100 km.
Dry weight is 140kg without any gadgets mounted (like hand guards, handlebar riser, steering damper or a gps/navigation device. aso.)

Some tech specs.
Bolt on kit, no drilling, welding or any other damage to get it on

Rotomould XLPE tank
CNC aluminum milled brackets
Lasercut steel sheet metal holding fixture
Aluminum navigation tower
Aluminum engine guard 4mm
Side and headlight cover PP (polypropylene)

For further question or anything else feel free to get in contact with me.

Thank you very much
Best regards
