The BMW GS Rally was a great event this year, Held again at Lakes ranch just outside Rotorua about 220 bikes attended to ride the road, gravel and challenge sections.
There were a few old GS’s in attendance along with mine.
The teal R100GSPD had a small mascot on the crashbar.
The gravel route covered about 420kms of road and private forest access ranging from forest access roads, stunnning wide trails down to some tight tracks.
The BMW GS Rally is one of only 2 manufacturer supported rallies I am aware of that are open to all brands of bikes, though this DRZ-400 was having a bit of an identity crisis

The BMW GS Rally is a route sheet event, Thanks to Stuart Lewis for lending me his route sheet holder. Though the organisers did send out GPS tracks a day before the event due to high demand.
It amazes me that my airhead GS and this bike were on sale at the same time in 1992, one is not much changed from 1970s bikes and the other the height of technology with fuel injection etc.
