A new video has emerged with shots of the new BMW 1250GS, along with details of a new variable valve timing system called SHIFTCAM that at low revs has less valve lift for smooth efficient power and as revs increase shifts the cams sideways exposing the valves to the different cam profile with higher valve lift and possibly different opening and closing timing better suited for producing more power at higher revs.

Looks like the SHIFT CAM video got pulled from YouTube.

Yeah, maybe someone (BMW?) got upset about it

They could well have. I watched the video before it disappeared and I have to say that the Shift Cam looks like a nifty bit of engineering.

The reason why that video was pulled is probably because BMW officially released more information on the new BMW 1250 GS today including these 2 videos.

Done 1000kms so far, 200km off road. Loving it.Shiftcam is brilliant and with no noticable transition

Nice! I hear the R 1250 engine is a bit quieter and smoother running when compared to the liquid cooled R 1200.

Both engine and gearbox smoother than 2016 1200 GSA I had. I changed tyres to Bridgestone ax41 knobblies to do a bit of trail riding last weekend and have been commuting on them this week, great Tyre, quieter on road.
