I am currently undertaking a circumnavigation of New Zealand’s coastline aboard a Honda CRF300 Rally. I began the trip in Dunedin about 8 months ago and complete sections as time allows. I initially went South before heading up the West Coast. My last sector was up in the Takaka, Golden Bay area. I will be completing the Nelson, Marlborough Sounds regions next. I am based in Dunedin so have to factor in a couple of days travel each way for these sectors.

Essentially I am taking every road that follows the coastline or goes to it. As a result I do hundreds of kilometers down dead end roads but have been rewarded by seeing some amazing sights and meeting wonderful people. I am an amateur photographer and videographer so enjoy recording things as I go, (don’t worry I wont inflict my video journals on anyone).

I have a BMW F800GS which has been an amazing adventure bike, but elected to use something smaller as I am solo and don’t fancy picking the 800 up off me if things go South. I purchased the 300 specifically for this trip and have put a little under 17,000 Km on it so far. I will include a few generic photos of the bike in this post, but if anyone is interested in how I have set it up, PM me and I will show specifics. I live off the back of the bike some of the time (sleeping in a tent) and on other occasions I will stay with friends or in cabins. This is often weather dependent (I’m not as young as id like to be). The bike has proved to be excellent.
Id love to meet some of the group as I pass through your regions so feel free to drop me a line if you know I’m close.
Hopefully see you down a back road in the middle of nowhere:)
Brice
