Hoping to go for a ride for a few hours while visiting.

I’m going to be visiting Nz  from March 15 through March 31. I would love to join up with a group or individual and go for a ride, even if it’s just for a few hours. I was wondering if someone had a spare bike and could set me up with the necessary gear to go on a dual sport ride. I would be happy to take you out to lunch and/or  dinner, pay for the gas etc.

I would also like to reciprocate if you’re ever in the United States and visiting Montana I would be happy to show you around and take you for a ride. I have three bikes KTM 890 adventure R, KTM 790 adventure R and KTM 350 XCFW. I’d be happy to let you stay with us and perhaps play with some of the many other toys that I have such as rafting, drift boat for fly fishing, power boat for water skiing ,snow mobiles etc.
We live in the town of Whitefish Montana and have a nice ski area close by if you decide to visit during our winter months. We also are close to Glacier national park which has great hiking and you can use us as a base camp, we are only an hour away from Canada as well.

I’m 62 yrs old, and been riding since I was 4. I still get after the single track on my 350. I’m just looking for a causal ride on some gravel or slab for a day or even a few hours. We are renting a camper van and touring both islands, it’s  just my wife and myself. She would rather hang out at some winery or hang in camp. She could be a shuttle driver if we do an overnighter and load her up with your camping gear.

We arrive in Christchurch on the 15th. We’ll be on the north island from the 29th-31. I would much rather do it this way and get to hang out and make some new friends rather than rent a bike and go off on my own. I’m hoping to do some fly fishing, hiking and ebiking while we’re visiting. I’ll be on a dive boat around Australia from March 1 – 15th. You can call me any time at 011-4062530372
I look forward to hooking up with someone, and I’ll make it worth your efforts to set me up.

Sincerely

Jeff Littfin

Hi Jeff

Your post is quite timely.

I was meant to be on a group ride from 19 Mar till 29 Mar through the South Island but it has fallen through.  I am also 62 so we possibly have similar riding interests:)

My new plan was to continue a tour of the NZ coast line which I have been doing in sections.  I am currently progressing through the bottom of the South Island.  I normally do this on a Honda CRF300 Rally.  I also have a BMW F800GS and a BMW R1200RT.

I live just South of Dunedin.  We have some incredible adventure riding down here (for gentlemen of our vintage).  More than happy to share bikes and time if you want to see NZ by bike.  We live in a rural environment so plenty of room if you wish to park up your camper and stay.

Let me know if you are interested.

Regards

That’s sounds great! Sorry for the delay, we’re on a boat sailing right now.  I really am looking forward to a ride and I’m so glad to get your reply.  I have really poor internet net connection because we’re way out in the ocean. Divings been awesome. I could call you and we talk over details if you provide me your number.  I’m super excited to hear from you. I should be back on land on the 14th.

Thanks

Jeff

Thanks for the number I’ll call when we get to NZ. We’ll pick up the camper in Christchurch on the 15th. We’ll get stocked up with some provisions and head your way.

Look forward to catching up.

Lots to see and do in my part of the world so I am sure you will have a great time.

I will be in Wellington from 17-18 March but home after that.  Plenty for you to look at between Christchurch and Dunedin.  About 4-5 hours driving if your in a rush, about 4-5 days if your not:)

Call if you want some ideas on what to see and do.

Brice
