Hydrogen Electric propulsion – 500km on 1 litre of water

@michael_j_breen posted this interesting article on a Facebook discussion and I thought it worth of more indepth discussion.

http://www.euronews.com/2016/02/09/water-powered-motorbike-brainchild-of-brazilian-civil-servant

The ‘expert’ in the article states that the bike is not actually running on the water but on electricity from the battery generated through the hydrogen generation process, but the bike in the picture looks like it has a ICE motor so I’m a little confused.

Can anyone explain whats actually going on?

Mr wiki says it takes as much energy to split water into hydrogen as there is when it combusts.
If true this is probably why we have not seen a production water powered engine.

No need to read the article if you paid attention during science when you were at high school. BS.
