SWM announces new twin cylinder motors for new models

At a recent event celebrating SWM owners Shineray’s 20th anniversary 4 new V-twin motors were revealed which are to be used in new SWM models.

There’s no official word on what style of bikes the new motors will be used in but over half of SWM’s current range are Enduro or Adventure bikes so it’s a fair bet 1 or more of these motors will end up in an adventure chassis.

I am guessing here but it going to be a Chinese built motor not Italian? Currently only one of the motors in the SWM range is still made in Italy and many of their smaller bikes are 100% Chinese. That said many other manufacturers have moved manufacturing to China or at least out sources components from China and the quality control seems to have really stepped up in many Chinese built items now days. Will be interesting to see what they use this motor in and how well built it is. I think the 550 twin in the RS chassis would make a great bike something like the Aprilia RXV but hopefully with less maintenance longevity issues.
