Waving and Nodding while riding

I’m conflicted about ‘Waving and Nodding’ at other motorcyclists.
Perhaps I haven’t found my style. On one hand it’s quite a nice thing; To wave and or nod.
Except when you extend an outstretched glove to an apanger-grasping skull-face
on a tight corner. Mind you the most unlikely looking people/bikes, do or don’t, wave or nod.
So who ever knows? Sometimes I feel like a idiot just about to crash his bike.
Sometimes I can’t wave or nod and then I feel like I’m being an asshole.

Overall I find it a distraction, though a, ‘nice to do’.

Any insights? Experiences?

With your hand by your thigh sweep your arm from the front to the back, recognised as smooth sailing brother, if someone ignores you, probably riding a Harley, smile and pass on by

Yeah good advice. Sports bike riders might have a problem with waving too.
The riding position isn’t easy.

I generally wave and probably 70-80% wave or make some other form of acknowledgement back.

I sometimes wave and sometime nod…if busy I don’t do anything. If I don’t get one back I’m not bothered.

Give most people the finger. Especially gangs. Works well.

My brother and I, gave the finger to the Hell’s Angels on their
Harleys. That went well for us. We’re both doing well in hospital.

Ho Ho no, but we did ride past them, a steady positive throttle and
respectful lane width allowance will mean no trouble.

I’ve given up waving at cyclists. They look at me as though I’m
asking for help. I admire their tenacity. But going at 80 to 105kph,
I don’t need much help, except mentally.

Scooters also, I don’t feel so inclined to wave at scooters.
I saw a three wheeled 250cc race past me on the motorway.
Two wheels in the front – one at the back. I felt that if I waved
to the owner of such a machine I would catch an odd disease.

Mainly I’ve noticed waving or nodding is best achieved when riders are having a nice time.
