Youshop have started displaying a message to it’s users that from December 1st 2019 They will start collecting GST on all overseas purchases that are sent to Youshop for shipping and delivery to NZ, regardless of value.
This is the implementation of the so called ‘Amazon-Tax’ where all purchases overseas will now be charged GST to provide NZ based retailers an even playing field against overseas competitors who do not have to charge GST on purchases.
This will be noticed by many adventure riders as many products are purchased overseas as there is no NZ based distributor for many of the products we buy.
