Hi Cottlini
You may already be aware that as an alternative to having a Carnet for NZ you can pay the GST and temporarily import a bike when you re export the bike you can claim the GST back
Chris
>Remember you’ll need to convert it to RH ride LOL<
Cottlini,
Hello and thank you very much for the generous offer. It is greatly appreciated.
In regards to converting the motorcycle to RH drive… I am more concerned with converting my brain to RH drive<g>. I guess I’ll just have to go with the flow…
Thanks again and take care. I’ll be in touch.
David
To continue the theme of bike review….does anyone know anything about the Transalp at Hastings Honda? Listing number. 1343137925

dbl post….
Hi,
I am wondering if you have seen the AdventureRidingNZ “Picture Project” for the September motorcycle show.
Check out the details here:

Hi All. Just wondering if there are many people Hawkes Bay people on here as seems very quiet in this area. I’m looking to go for the occasional ride based from Napier and wouldn’t mind tagging along with some others. Cheers Craig
Hi Craig
Can be a bit quiet but that doesn’t mean there isn’t anyone there!!
I think the thing to do here is to quote peoples user names from previous pages. That will alert them that there is a question here. Looking back to teh previous page though was moslty me and Koonzee and neither of us are in HB.
Heads up @Brainflex, @cottlini, any others ???
Other tip is to put something on the Facebook page. A lot of people use that in preference to this especially if a bit younger.
Last resort, (and i’ll probably get shot for this!) if you get no takers try posting something here http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/hawkes-bay-adventures.1161907/page-5. Fair bit of activity there.
If you find anyone bring them back here:)
Cheers and happy riding – summer is coming!!
OK Thanks. Will give it a go.
42nd Traverse 9/10th December
A group of us will be riding the 42nd Traverse on the weekend on 9/10th December. Plan is to ride from Whakatane to Whakamaru via Rerewhakaaitu and Waikiti Valley. Meet up with some guys from Tauranga. From there to Centre of North Island, Bennydale, back road to Taumuranui, Fishers Track, eat n drink in National Park and out to Pokako Mill (DOC) campsite for the night. Next day is ride the 42nd, hop back over Fishers, gravel roads to Taumarunui. Open to suggestions after that but generally heading back. Interested in coming along?
I’m keen @Brainflex
‘@Black Betty and I or anyone else from Tauranga area could meet you at Waiotapu pub or Whakamaru, but there are some pretty good roads in the Waikiti valley area that are worthy of riding, be a shame not to.
I suggested Rainbow Mountain to Tim, Talk it over with him and let me know.
I’m now parked up in the Mount campground for the next 9 days with no fixed plans and no bike. If anyone wants to catch up for a pint/gossip let me know.
Check out this event next month just a bit inland near Minganui: https://www.adventureridingnz.co.nz/pec-events/goodbye-summer-fuck-the-black-dog-overnighter/.
Hi guys,
I keen to get back on to my bike to check out my new hip ! That two day ride sounds very good !
Cheers

Bummer – just discovered that I replied to an old, -posted long time ago – tread. Quite tied up til mid December but always open to an adventure ride later on.
I’ve just relocated to Tauranga so will be keen to meet some riders in the New Year.
Anyone ever had a look up Manoeka Road just out of Te Puke?
I discovered it today, it’s short but interesting.
While researching Manoeka Road I found County Road in the Karangahake Gorge between Waihi and Paeroa which looks interesting and needs further investigation.
Keen to get back into adventure riding, used to have a gs1150 and a GSA1200, did loads of week long trips in central and southern Africa. How often di you guys organize rides and I am inclined to go for the Husqvarna 701 ensure as more mud here than what I am use to. Penny for your thoughts before I commit. Thanks.
Welcome @brett_de_villiers
Rides are organised whenever you or anyone else takes the fancy, I’m looking at heading out from Welcome Bay in TGA for a few hours tomorrow morning to explore some local roads before I have to put the bike away for a while.
As to what bike you go for, that depends on what adventure is to you and how technical you want to get.
So now that I am settled in Tauranga I thought a meet up every so often would be good so that people can meet each other.
Does anyone have ideas on a good place in Tauranga to meet? a pub or somewhere with decent parking that’s open on a weeknight.
Keen on that, I am in Papamoa and the island could be a good place. Or the fishing club at sulpar point if that’s more central for everyone.
Tauranga riders drinks get together
June 2, 2021 7pm.
An opportunity for Tauranga riders to get together and meet each other over a few beers.
Location is The Worlds End bar at Fraser Cove shopping centre.
227-229 Fraser Street, Fraser Cove
3112 Tauranga, New Zealand
Hi,
I have just joined the group. I’m in Tauranga. Anything happening here?
Thanks Peter
The South end of Oropi Road, while sealed is worthy of an honorable mention. It gets very tight and twisty once you are past Oropi Gorge Road.
So when are we going to try it out? Keen for a twisty adventure while the weather holds. Based in the Bay
Sorry, I discovered it that day when I rode it. My riding schedule is very last minute at present unfortunately.
This was Tauamta Road today, just off sh36.
Considering doing a ride from TGA up through Thames to Tapu, across to Coroglen and back down to Tauranga on Saturday.
I had a good ride, shot up Victoria Street then over the Tapu Coroglen road, around 320km all up.
Riding up around Coromandel is one of the greatest rides in NZ I reckon, just stunning.
