In case people are following this tragedy, it’s not easy running your own boutique motorbike line these days. And Erik Buell is a visionary and contemporary of our own John Britten. In fact, I got a message from Erik (who doesn’t know me at all) saying that they were talking about working together and met overseas. He thought the Britten was ‘clever’, and that is a lot coming from a bike genius. Shame they didn’t get the chance to work together. Oh he also loves NZ and wants to come riding here one day 🙂
Here’s the most recent article. It looks as though Hero had other plans and may have been planning a hostile takeover by retracting their funding in the partnership, in order to gain access into the lucractive USA market? Time will tell, but this is certainly not the end of EBR or the american wizard of performance bikes and engineering.
