Ural has made left hand side model sidecars for the New Zealand, Australia and UK markets for some years, but they were all single wheel drive only. If you wanted a 2 wheel drive Ural sidecar you had to settle for the Ranger model with the sidecar on the right hand side of the bike.
While right hand side sidecars can be driven on the road in countries like NZ where vehicles drive on the left side of the road, it makes it difficult for the rider to see oncoming traffic.
Now that has changed as Ural have announced 2 wheel drive left side Gear Up model.
Roothy is a stalwart of the Aussie 4×4 scene and has ridden a left hand side 2 wheel drive Ural.
The old Gear Up single wheel drive model was $28,900NZ, there’s no word yet on what the new 2 wheel drive left side sidecar will retail for in NZ.
