Cheers, looks like a software update has caused an issue somewhere. I’ll see what I can figure out.
‘@Daniel Fisher I’ve fixed the forum post options so they can be seen now.
I also fixed the Forum Titles where they weren’t vertically centered and were being chopped off at the bottom.
I think I’ve fixed the random 404 error pages as well, though only time will tell.
Been happening for a while now, can’t access some pages
Well that’s just weird, they are working fine for me.
What happened when you pressed F5 as per the instructions on the page? It’s possible the page was loaded out of your browser cache instead of fresh off the server, in which case a F5 or CTRL F5 refresh will sort it.
just the same. I can’t seem to access any of the pages in that drop down menu, they all come up with the 404 message 🙁
okay – don’t know what you did there but its now working – taa
I didn’t do anything. you must have stuck your tongue out the wrong way before or something.
I’m getting the same 404 error
Seems like the forum, shop and homepage all load but everything else gives me the 404
Dammit, thought I had fixed that. Obviously not.
What happened when you followed the instructions on the 404 page?
It should work again now
There was a glitch that caused users to get an error with some South Island tracks when trying to access the track pages or download the GPX file which thanks to assistance from @Steve Archibald has been resolved.
The fix was as simple as adding some missing S in a couple of places in the code.
Would it be possible to change the colours of the tracks etc on the maps to make them really stand out?
finding it hard to see on weeny screen in daylight….
Cheers!
I have been thinking about that. When I first assigned the colours I tried to select ones that Kinda resembled the surface type but that doesn’t work so great. Got any suggestions?
Meybe black (like tar) for sealed roads, red shows up great for gravel which is probably the most common road for adv riders, Brown for dirt,, not sure about sand etc,, could purple work?
Cheers.
I updated the colours the other day Muzz, nothing too fancy, i just used primary colours.
In other news I also did some tweaks that to me seem to have sped the site up a bit.
Excellent, super great!
Small point. Anyone tell me why I’ve dropped about 800 points on the leaderboard? Not a biggie, but I did notice the change in posting positions….
A software update for that plugin had reset the settings so it was using the balance of points given automatically for things like posts and replies and not including manually added points updates for things like new GPS track pages.
It is now showing correctly again.
I installed several massive software updates a day or two ago, please let me know if you find anything funny.

Hi, is it possible to get the latest postings at the top please or do I need to edit my setting? thanks
Hi Sandra
Latest postings at the top may make readability a bit weird?
I did find a setting that makes topics open on the last page of comments instead of the first so that should improve things.
Hi, I’m a new member, I registered with my Google account, that’s all good, I’m logged in, but when I try to download a gpx file of a track, it takes me to the adventure riding site and says I have to login to download, but there’s no option there to login. Any ideas?
Cheers Jas
Hey Jas,
we had an issue with the site this morning, can you try again now?
Hi, thanks for that, I can now download the gpx files, but my phone says it can’t open file.
You need a GPS app on your device that supports the .gpx file standard.

There was an issue with being able to create a new topic in the forums but I’ve fixed that now.
Hi,
The tracks on the North Island map seem to have all disappeared, although I can still access them using the list on the right side. And the South Island map works fine.
Any chance you can fix that ? It’s not easy to find tracks without the map.
Thanks !
Yeah I’m not sure what’s going on there. An update to an existing track was sent in so I updated that track and the map wouldn’t load any more, so I put everything back as it was before the changes and it still won’t load. I’m working on it but no idea what the cause is yet.
FYI, just confirming that the North Island, South Island and T2B tracks are not showing up on the maps (for me at least) in either Firefox or Chrome.
Ah Bugger, Thanks Iain. I was aware of teh North ISland track but when I looked last both the other ones were working. Must be something going on with the google code. I’ll get into it some more.
‘@amelusine @Iain Harris The maps are working again now.
A few weeks ago the Adventure Riding NZ website was subject to a brute force attack and as part of that I blocked access from Russian countries, the stans and a bunch of countries over that way via cloudflare.
As it turns out it seems that this also caused the the Google maps api also seems to stop working. it looks like I’m going to have to do a lot more testing as to which countries I can and can’t block without ill effects, though I wouldn’t have thought blocking any of these would cause an issue.
Mate I know you’re not going to be happy to read this, but the rendering on iPhone Safari is really poor. Is there anything in the works to migrate to something delivering a cleaner UX?
Well your first problem is that your using an ithing 😉
Yeah it’s a bit crap on many mobile devices. I need to figure out how the css works and adjust at what pixel width it decides to use different layouts. I suspect most modern phones have a pixel width somewhere around 1080 and the template doesn’t drop down to it’s mobile format till the screen width is 800 or something like that.
Not sure if you saw but I fixed the North, South and T2B tracks last week. The All Unsealed Roads in NZ ones I have a plan but need some free time when there’s not lots of other things in life going on to get onto it.
Haha. I’m 30+ in banking software, riding is one of my escapes so I won’t wade into your good work other than to say thank you and note I’m middle-aged and have my enormous ithing zoomed as well. I’ll check out the maps again, appreciate the tip. Appreciate what you do mate. Enjoy the ride.
FUCK!!!!!
The North and South island maps were working at the beginning of the week, now they are not.
EDIT: The maps pages are working again.
@Damian France, try now.
Bit of a puzzle – I can view all the tracks on my media PC, but when I shift to my laptop, cant see any tracks? Any idea what Ive done – or not done
Cheers
David
Aand, now they have disappeared on my Media PC as well.
*(&^*(^*(&!!!!!!!!!!!
Can you try this morning?
They seem to be working on my work PC (Ssssh I’m working really).
Yep, working on both PC and Laptop now! Brilliant, thank you.
Sorry mate – disappeared again
Yeah I think there’s some weird caching stuff going on that’s making the issue more awkward to figure out, for me they are working.
Hi Eddie – no tracks visible again. cheers
DavidF
Weird, they are all there for me.
‘@Eddieb The K-tech Suspension sponsor links are pointing to a dead domain. It appears the new web address is https://www.ktechsuspension.com/
Cheers, updated with new domain.
