Reduce the number of points in the GPX so that the file size is below 500kb, then it will work.
Leaving in the next hour if anyone is interested.
Hey Simon, where are you leaving from?
Anyone heading out for a ride today from Hamilton /te awamutu /Cambridge?
Anyone heading out today?
No takers ?I would be keen on going for a ride.
Sorry, I’d gone by the time you replied. You missed a good ride: https://www.adventureridingnz.co.nz/forums/topic/random-adventure-riding-pics/page/7/#post-17568
Who’s riding in the Waikato tomorrow, I am thinking Waikare, Quine, Waite, Top, Ohinewai/Matahura, and then maybe sneak into the Maramarua forest, see if we can do Smyths, through to Falls rd
won’t be till afternoon
Take a gps.
I think @Jake Maryniak and I will do an early riad ride to Raglan and back.
Unfortunately I don’t have a GPS, is there a good app that my phone can use and will work? I would take along to rags but I can’t leave till sitter comes. So I am only able to do a afternoon ride.

Edit revived confirmation email
1pm at the TeKauwhata service station if anyone is been seen a few paper roads in the area to have a look at too
Ok who’s keen on a ride tomorrow?
Mint weather forecast.
Are you still thinking of going for a ride?
Already out on bike. I never heard from anyone so you snooze you lose 🙂
I’ll be down Pureora and centre of north areas.
All good. Enjoy the day.
Who’s up for a ride this weekend?
Weather looks good so far 🙂
After being stupidly busy the last 6 weeks or so I’m intending on heading out on Sunday for a short ride. It won’t be anything too serious and there may not even be any gravel involved, but I’ll be on the bike!
It’s quite likely lunch at a pub/cafe somewhere will be involved.
Which way will you head?
No idea at this stage. Possibly fish and chips at Kaiaua, otherwise possibly the bike shed at Okoroire or Raglan. It might depend on which direction the sun is.
I’ll keep in touch then:-)
Unless it’s absolutely horrible I think I’ll head towards Kaiaua with an eye towards an early fish and chip lunch then a gentla wander around that area as I have never really ridden around there.
So I went out and rode some never before traveled by me roads: https://www.adventureridingnz.co.nz/forums/topic/random-adventure-riding-pics/page/7/#post-18998
Hi,
I am wondering if you have seen the AdventureRidingNZ “Picture Project” for the September motorcycle show.
Check out the details here:

Andrew
If you are over Waitomo way don’t go down Mangaokewa Rd for a little while. There’s been a huge slip thats blocked the road
You can read about the slip and see more pictures on stuff.co.nz: https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/97060475/large-landslip-causes-damage-in-waitomo-district
I snuck out for a littlew ride tonight, who’s going to organise a weekday evening rideout to take advantage of the long evenings?, @Hadrian Haine, @Michael Eastwood, @Aaron Martin anyone else?
I could be keen on tagging along at some point over the next month or so once my bike is reassembled…
Best you let us know when your bike is reassembled and organise an evening jaunt to run it back in.
Is anyone riding today?
Edit: I ended up heading out on my own to Pirongia, Kawhia, and Raglan.

Looking at doing a quiet after work ride tonight. Anyone interested?
Don’t miss the KLR Ramlbers ride this Sunday, it’s around Port Waikato etc
https://www.adventureridingnz.co.nz/pec-events/klr-ramblers-ride-november/
I’d say I’ll be doing this KLR Ramblers ride this Sunday on the Tenere since I’ll be staying in Glenn Murray for the night. If I don’t see the Group at Pokeno I may just meet up further down the track.
I’ll head out Sunday morning for a ride, I only have till about 2pm though. I may go to the Hamilton North School Charity ride, I haven’t decided yet.

The KLR ride is on Saturday, not Sunday.

anyone heading out today or tomorrow? not sure how long my injury and pain levels will let me ride for but anyone keen for Ohinewhi and Waitie Rds or maybe Maramarua ways?
Bugger, what happened to you?
I’ve got a bit on today including a late night so not sure how the energy levels will be tomorrow.
Crushed and severed my thumb, 3 months back now. But am up to 40° mobility, am off the nice blockers now so can drive, and maybe rude again but as I have weaned off the the pain has increased… But I have to say the plastics sergans and the hand and burns specialists at Waikato Hospital are amazing.
definitely making it tomorrow now if anyone is keen I am going to start in TeKawhata head up around Maramarua forestry area have one road to check there hoping it Skirts the forestry and isn’t gated (hoping). Then the long way onto Story Rd down to Ohinewai, Top, Settlement and Waitie roads. See how I am feeling at that point. might do Quine then reverse the Waitie through Ohinewai rds. So if any one want to tag along or suggest another route, feel free.
What time are you leaving Te Kawhata?
I am flexible, especially if it means some company… If there are no other takers I could meet. Someone coming from Hamilton closer and on a more scenic piece of road, so they could avoid the highway if they preferred..
I am going to leave Hamilton at abut 10 15. Happy to meet in tk.
Good ride today. We covered Finlayson Road, Ohinwai Road and Waiti Road. The road @Hadrian Haine wanted to check out was a bust unfortunately.
The top of Ohiniwai Road

West road was the road of hi hopes and disappoint. But it was always a shot in the dark using Google Maps…
FinlasoN runs parralel to the road I wished to explore, unfortunately it is part of the forestry system. Was great Meeting you Edward, and good to have someone to ride with. Thanks mate.
We also used Top road and Old Hill road to link Matahura Vally road/ Ohinewai Rds and Waiti roads. These to for those unfamiliar with them run parralel to SH27 and are and winding undulating mix of sea and gravel and are worth riding and certainly better than plooding along the high to link these road.
Regarding Finlayson Road..Unfortunatley that West side of the Forestry is heavily populated with Hunters during the weekends and of lately with People riding their Horses. You can gain access at the end of Symes road to the left through the scrub(But I wouldnt bother if you see horse floats inside the gates.) Definatley a cool bit of Forestry to check out with some amazing views!
I have been up Smyths road and seen it’s easy to ride around the gate there but wasn’t sure it was wise to entertain past a locked gate. Last time I went there Rally cars were running so that was interesting to park up and go for a walk around the rally cars.
Ive gone into the forestry before through an unlocked gate..only to be locked in..lol.
As a Kopuku rd native I can tell you all three Forest’s can get busy over the weekends. The 35 Years I’ve spent riding in there was mainly on weekdays, in the late afternoon, early evenings. So West division is for the Hunters and Horse’s..the Main Headquaters is frequently occupied with Greg Power with his trail rides and trail maintenance (Easily penetrated at the top of Ferndale road). The East side (Okaeria rd heading to the S.H) is usually host to Rally Driving Experience on the weekends, is heavily fortified and is home to one of the best trail’s in all of the Forestry which leads to the base of the famous “Bald Hill” (Bald Hill” is that perfectly form hill you can see on the Wearanga skyline as you head out of Te Kauwhata) The Trail leading to Bald hill is gnarly and challenging but easily conquered on an adventure bike with knobbies. Get to the top of Bald Hill and you are blessed with amazing 360 views. People obviously go up there on a semi regular basis judging by names and dates etched into the Trig Station. Some of the dates etched into to rocks up there go back to the 1800’s!
Anyone heading out this Sunday?
Well I had notakers to join me so I had a great ride on my own.
https://www.adventureridingnz.co.nz/forums/topic/random-adventure-riding-pics/page/8/#post-22562.
I’m going to head out 10 ish for a ride. Not sure what direction or whether there will be any gravel yet.
